Classes in the J-School

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication offers classes taught by both Ph.D. faculty members and professionals who practice in the field. In addition, the school brings guest lecturers and visitors to the classroom in an effort to expand students' understanding of key professional practices and theoretical ideas.

Kenneth Walsh, the White House correspondent for U.S. News and World Report, is serving as the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s 2007 Public Affairs Writer in Residence.

In this clip, Walsh, who has covered four presidential administrations and won numerous awards for his reporting, says that one way to get a leg up in the field of journalism is through internships.
