Grad student and TA Brian Ekdale named a UW-Madison "Future Faculty Partner" for teaching excellence

The UW-Madison Teaching Academy has named SJMC graduate student and teaching assistant Brian Ekdale a Future Faculty Partner for the 2008-2009 academic year.

The Teaching Academy promotes excellence in teaching by recognizing and partnering outstanding faculty and teachers of the future. Throughout the year, the Teaching Academy sponsors events that encourage innovation, experimentation and dialogue among faculty, instructional staff and graduate teaching assistants.

"This is a great opportunity," says Ekdale, who serves as a teaching assistant in J202, Mass Media Practices. "I'm looking forward to working with and learning from some of the best teachers on campus."
Currently a doctoral student studying media globalization, Ekdale emphasizes collaboration in his teaching.

"Brian is such a pleasure to work with in J202," says Katy Culver, who teaches the course. "I'm excited to see him take his ideas and enthusiasm out to the broader campus and extend our commitment to excellence in teaching."
