Greg Downey wins teaching award

Associate Professor Greg Downey has been selected to receive the 2007 William H. Kiekhofer Distinguished Teaching Award by the UW-Madison Committee on Distinguished Teaching Awards. He will receive his award at a ceremony on Tuesday, April 24.

Downey joined the UW faculty in 2001, with a 50 percent appointment in the School of Journalism & Mass Communication and a 50 percent appointment in the School of Library and Information Studies. In the J-School, he teaches Journalism 201: Introduction to Mass Communication (seating up to 400 students per semester) as well as an advanced seminar on Cyberspace and Hypermedia.

Other J-School Chancellor's award recipients include Katherine Cramer-Walsh (2006), James Baughman (2003) and Maryann Yodelis Smith (1975).
