Biography: Pat Hastings joined the School of Journalism & Mass Communication as a faculty associate in 2000. She taught part time for the previous two years as a broadcast journalism instructor. Hastings is also an independent television producer, focusing on corporate and commercial television projects.

Hastings spent 10 years as a commercial television reporter, producer and photographer in Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Milwaukee. She then spent more than a decade as a university instructor after her professional television-radio experience.

Hastings is the instructor for The Badger Report, a live student newscast that is streamed over the internet, and its companion Web site. She also coordinates the award winning student teams for the Bateman Competition. This is a prestigious national contest sponsored by the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Hastings earned her M.A. from the UW School of Journalism & Mass Communication and her B.A. in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
