Muscular Dystrophy Association -- The Muscular Dystrophy Association is seeking graduate students, graduating seniors or undergraduates entering their Junior or Senior year, studying public relations, communications, journalism, advertising or marketing to coordinate regional public relations efforts for special events, fundraisers, public service campaigns and the 2009 Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon. Madison Area Bus Advocates -- adison Area Bus Advocates seeks an unpaid intern Communications Officer. Funds for the position are being sought but have not yet been procured. We are a small nonprofit organization that wants an expanded and improved urban and regional bus system, serving more people, places, and trips throughout the greater Madison area. Duties for the 10 hour/wk position include maintaining our website (www.busadvocates.org), reporting on relevant community meetings, and preparing fact sheets about transit possibilities and realities in the Madison Area. Scheduling is flexible and can be worked around other activities. Dane County Humane Society -- Intern works under supervision of the Director of Community Relations. 10-15 hours of work per week, with plenty of portfolio opportunities. Internship projects include writing news releases, writing 15, 30 & 60-second PSA for radio and TV stations, writing articles for Petpourri, our quarterly magazine, writing media advisories to go out right before events, acting as DCHS representative for weekly media appearances, assisting with photography files and press clip archive, creating and scheduling presentations, occasional fun artwork projects and cccasional clerical projects. Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory -- all 2008 Science Writing Internship Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, located near Chicago and home of the world's most powerful particle collider, offers a science-writing internship in its Office of Communication. The internship will start at the beginning of September and continue through mid-December. The internship is for approximately 3.5 months and the salary is about $600 per week.
