Frequent Questions - Alumni How can I get involved in the J-School again? You have many opportunities to get involved. We welcome alumni who are willing to serve as mentors or student contacts for current undergraduate and graduate students looking for internship or career guidance. To learn more, email info@journalism.wisc.edu. If you would like to make a more significant time commitment, the School of Journalism’s Board of Visitors is an opportunity to offer your expertise in shaping the School’s present and future. Finally, alumni donations play a vital role in current projects, scholarships and technology. You could consider making a tax-deductible donation. How do I ensure my donation to the University will benefit the J-School? If you are mailing in a check, include a note designating the funds for the School of Journalism & Mass Communication. If you are using the Foundation’s secure Web site, select “Other – detailed below” under “Gift Designation” and type “School of Journalism & Mass Communication” in the available box. Donations may be made online using a Mastercard, Visa or American Express. You can quickly link from here to that page with this information already included. I'm looking for a new job. Can the J-School help me? Entry-level and early-career job postings can be found here. Alumni are also welcome to submit a copy of their resume to our resume binder for release to potential employers (download a resume binder cover sheet here). I haven’t been receiving the Wisconsin Journalist alumni newsletter. Can I get back on the mailing list? E-mail Corinne Ahrens to ensure your most current address is on our mailing list. My son/daughter/niece/nephew/etc. is thinking about going into journalism. Is there someone he/she could meet with to talk about the field? We are happy to arrange for informational visits. Contact undergraduate adviser Bob Schwoch to schedule an appointment. I’m looking into graduate school and need more information about a class I took as an undergraduate. How can I get that? The J-School maintains grade and attendance records back into the 1930s. If you need a syllabus or course description, and the faculty member is still with the J-School, you should contact that person directly – otherwise, email Daron Nealis for assistance. I’d like to get in touch with an old professor who is no longer with the department. How can I get his/her contact information? Contact department administrator Janet Buechner.
