2001 Carol Toussaint
  carol toussaint photoCarol Toussaint (B.A. 1951) presently serves as the Interim Executive Director of the Alliant Energy Foundation and filled a similar position in 1999 for the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters. She has a long and distinguished record of voluntary, business and public service. She has held leadership positions on numerous governmental and non-governmental boards and commissions, served in public office, directed a variety of public policy studies and counseled nonprofit organizations on public relations, governance, fund development and strategic planning. Toussaint is widely recognized as a role model for women. She was the first woman appointed to head a cabinet-level agency in Wisconsin government, serving as Secretary of the Department of Local Affairs and Development in 1977-78.
